Lighter yellow is better. School bus yellow just does not suit a car (or a bus really - awful colour).
Also personally I am not much of a fan of solid colours for new cars unless they are totally retro in styling, solids just lack that extra dimension of richness. Vintage cars - well that is a different story, a metallic, mica or pearl finish would have looked ridiculous on the beautiful 70s-era Alfa Spider I walked by in a parking lot the other night.
