I think the 86 will still appeal to the "Fresh As F*ck" crowd, but they need to sell it to the 30-something and up looking for a car that is more fun than a Camry without spending 45 grand. If it does not sell to that crowd, goodbye 86.

I put 6K into my car doing more than 95% of the work myself (I did not install the upgraded brake kit, put on new tires or do the alignment,) getting it ready as a grip racer before going all power. Next upgrade, Jackson Racing Super Charger. Now, to just save up the funds. That, I will not be installing myself.
I totally agree they should go after the 30-something market, which I am apart off. Everyone wants more power. Then you have to decide if you want a fun car that can slip its tail out with confidence, or do you want to go with an all drift setup or an all grip setup.
Actually, I was just talking about this to my friend yesterday. Right now, my cars handling is so neutral. I have no oversteer or understeer since I have that chassis buckled down. Since I don't have the funds for boost just yet, I was thinking of tightening the dampening of my rear suspension to induce some oversteer for a bit of fun driving.
I am truly a Toyota fan boy and am very familiar with Toyota's wiring and electronics systems and even adjusted my auto lights with Toyota Techstream because I felt they come on long after it's dark. While I was installing my Viper Remote start alarm, the car reminded me a lot about my 2003 TRD Celica GTS. Even the way the panels come off is identical. Plus, being an installer for 14 years, I loved working on Toyotas.
So, Toyota had a plan to release a fun car for under 30K that reminds me more of the 89-94 S13, Nissan 240SX (USA name) than anything else when driving it stock. But, as we are the enthusiast mod community, we want more power. So, you really have to consider what kind of build you're going for.
So, no hate on my part. I just prefer for car manufactures to not make their cars look aftermarket. Same as I said of the BRZ.
