The bolded areas clarify that they had the cabriolet in mind but not the fact that it was designed to be one to begin with a la Boxster or Miata. Given the fact that one has not come out yet as well, it seems that not only the price, but the convertible not meeting their standards of rigidity and safety is why it hasn't been produced yet.
