No, I don't think it is all that much better. I wanted the new car and various non-performance upgrades over my FRS, not necessarily because I thought it will be more competitive.

The gearing definitely has me worried, it will be a gamble, but we'll see. People thought the ND's were screwed because of their short gearing and look how they are doing now (I also drove one of those and it feels much shorter geared than the new BRZ).
