First post covers the reasons for the plain rotors but I guess it doesn't really make it clear that these are not the first set of rotors I had on the car. First set was J-hooks and I did not like them one bit. They make a very annoying noise on the street and you can almost feel them eating away at the brake pad. If you search you will see some other reports of the sound. The sound is like a playing card in the spokes of your bicycle. It's all the time, even when you aren't on the brakes. Plain faced rotors make no noise.
