A lot of things work without ECU, including speedo.
If you want tach and power steering, just do what I did, spend $50 on an arduino with canbus. I tried to get ABS working but no luck. As above poster said; airbag light is on but might work? I never want to find out though.
Things I don't care that I'm missing:
TRAC (light is stuck ON)
Cruise Control
Airbag?? (light is stuck ON)
Accurate fuel gauge (still works but it's derpy)
Engine temp (I have a proper gauge)
Check engine light (mine is off permanently)
Things I care that I'm missing:
ABS and brake balancing systems (light is stuck ON)
Everything else works.
