Most people will never get to rev to those high numbers unless they hit a track or else on the streets it'll sound like your racing from one stop light to the next. The only upside from these 2.0 liters in my experience is MPG.
I understand what your saying, but the odd thing is at highway speeds, my car makes less noise than lower speeds. Between 4700-5000rpms she really smoothes out and doesn't come close to being as loud as any other car with an aftermarket exhaust. I sit right at the beginning of my powerband and the engine loves it. Makes passing other cars very easy. Below 4700rpms, its all exhaust note... Over 5300, the ITB's sing. But everyone one has their level of comfort needed. What your saying is a valid point I can admit, but some people love that work to push a car. Are you going faster, no... but some how in your mind you kinda feel like it. That's what makes a car sporty to me, that feeling it gives you.
