I don't regret my decision at all, and will probably keep it forever, but it won't be my next (2nd car) purchase. Along the lines of many others in this thread, I don't think you can get as much (fun) car for the money, and is overall a great value for the money. I bought this as a weekend toy (when I commuted by train) to learn how to drive, how a car works, and how to mod and maintain one, all without breaking the bank. It has filled that role perfectly. Likewise, after I moved to Cali, it became my daily driver, and has served me well with good fuel economy. Plus, the roads out here have given me a much greater appreciation for how nice the handling is.
Almost every time I drive something else in the 'cheaper' sportscar vein - base Cayman, Mustang , Camaro, RCZ - I come away disappointed, especially since they are all more expensive, even in these lesser configurations. The only comparable 'feel' I've seen is from my friends 2011 Boxster Spyder, but at 2.5x the price, used.
So, I'm just going to keep building this into the car I want it to be, and having fun along the way.
