The money goes into engineering, quality control, marketing, and compensating for relatively small production runs. Like their rear lower control arm, I'm positive the big black arms SPL makes are standard 6061 anodized Aluminum for both their lower control arms on the 86.

@ strat61caster is correct; the key points are titanium, and the rest is primarily aluminum.
