It definitely makes a difference, at least with the Continental DW's- if you run equal pressure, the setup tramlines like a bastard on grooved pavement.

Two pounds difference is enough to completely change the tracking. That three pound difference between front and rear keeps the steering much more sharp than equal pressure front to rear, too.
