The EV driver is doing their part to create demand for EV cars to grow the industry. The only reason a polluting Jeep competes with a Prius is because a Prius must be sourced inefficiently. If there is enough demand for hybrids and electric vehicles then the industry will grow domestically to support the product making manufacturing efficient and thus more environmentally friendly. Look at what Tesla is making:

Then there is the argument about renewables. We will only see growth in renewables when people buy EV's, and support such legislation and products. Look at what is happening in Germany:

Lastly, the EV driver is also improving the local environment. Their vehicles aren't dripping oil, coolant, gas, etc on the ground which isn't leaking into the water table. Their vehicles aren't polluting populated areas. Areas like LA have major pollution issues because of the population's vehicles and the nature of the geography.
