I'll chime in on this. My 2016 got hit over night in the left rear about 2 months ago. Never found the fucker who did it. My left tail light was smashed and the bumper was scratched and dented in on the left side. Unfortunately I went and reported it to cops out of rage and the stupid belief they may try and find the culprit (didn't happen), but never filed any insurance claim. I decided to buy Valenti's for the tail lights rather than keeping oem and the bumper was popped out so it wasn't as bad.
The bad part, however, was that the bumper was not able to clip onto the clips properly and was not seated properly. The tail light on that side also did not sit properly. A month later my grandfather and I took the bumper off to find that the frame got pushed inward, and the clip trays for the bumper were not in their correct place. We used the tail light as a reference for where the clip tray below the tail light is supposed to be, and did some homebrew to make it work. I sprayed the the parts of metal where the pain cracked with rustproof spray paint and got the bumper to have a roughly 95% fit. It is now only slightly visible on the side near the wheel well, where the space between quarter panel and bumper is a little bit greater than the other side.
I have had thoughts of what to do in terms of selling the car, but decided to keep it and drive it till it dies. Only thing I'm worried about is the dent in the trunk possibly causing some sort of structural fault in the car or premature rust building up. From the exterior though, it looks clean. It just has scratches on the bumper which look like I backed into something.
