The first available '17 BRZ's will definitely be non-PP models. If demand for the non-PP model is the same as '16 models then I also believe they will sit on the lot for an extended time. In fact demand (for non-pp model) could even decline if people wait for the PP model since the target market is so small.
Most likely the people picking up a 2017 Model (Non-PP) right away will be people who are casual driving enthusiasts who can't wait for the Performance Package to be released (like if their lease ends or if their old car is breaking down/totaled in accident).

Obviously can not speak to your area but the Subbie/Toyota sales guys here have told me several times that about 80% of their sales of these cars (all 20 or so of them) have been to people that are not "enthusiasts" of any type just your average Joe/Jane that wanted a small interesting coupe. Those people could not possibly care less about some brakes and wheels. The guys that want that will probably wait (impatiently) but I would think the rest will just buy what colour they want and be happy.
