For every car that I have ever owned that has ever had to go in for warranty service work near the end of the warranty (2). The work and new parts have always had a 1 year warranty. I'm guessing that was probably 1 year 12,000 miles. These were a new head unit in a chevy cobalt, where the replacement was replaced in 6 months after the warranty expired and an entire transfer case in a dodge journey due to a leak.
As far as the original question goes, I agree with the overall sentiment. Get it towed to the dealership.
