Cepten MY great grandmother and her mother drove a horse and buggy.

Yes, the buggy wheels had iron rims, the horses shoes were iron, the horsepower was limited to one, you pulled on the reins for brakes, the horse would have preferred to stay in the barn (had an attitude), the roads were either muddy or snow covered ......... and it was up hill both ways .......

And yes, they kept the buggy on the road (most of the time).
