A few years ago I had a Nissan Versa. I was post-divorce and broke AF when I got it. That car cheap, reliable [boring] transportation. Going to and from work- a 45-90 min (depends on traffic and day) trip one way- was a chore. It didn't even have cruise control so my right foot would get sore if there was no traffic, the car has no balls, it was an econobox, not fun to drive at all. A to B, rinse repeat day after day.
Then one August afternoon as I was slogging along in the middle lane I was passed by a guy who was enjoying his ride home in his Merc SLS convertible with the top down. I'm not broke now, but I don't have SLS money either. But it set in motion a discontent for that car- as reliable and solid as it was. Why should I not enjoy the 10 hours of commuting I do in this car? I needed a change.
Then 6 months later I got a Genesis Coupe 2.0t and discovered that my drive work doesn't have to suck. That car is no longer with us (RIP) and I have the FR-S to replace it. I look forward to driving to work and driving home- it puts me "in a positive mental state" and has had a great effect on the rest of my life. But also it's hobby detailing and modding the car, going to car shows and keeping it looking perfect and upgrading the look, sound and perf of the car.
So yeah, @
Mim, I'm right there with you.
