Don't run a 215/225 staggered; there's really no point. If you're running staggered, try to jump three sizes, to keep the tire's outside diameter the same. So, 215/245, 225/255, 235/265, that kind of thing. With wheel widths expanding accordingly. A very popular setup is 18x8.5 with 225 front and 18x9.5 with 255 rear.

Also, our cars come with a square setup. 17x7+48 with 215/45 on all four corners. Running a staggered setup will induce a little understeer, but not terrible. Will also cause slightly worse mileage, due to more heavier tire. If you want a staggered look because there's more space in the rear wheel wells, that's what spacers are for.

215 square, 215/225, or 225 square mileage and wear will all be more a factor of your driving style than the tire width. I would personally run 225 square on a 7.5" wheel. If you want to run staggered, try to find the same wheel in an 8.5" width and run 255s on the back.
