I actually own both a BRZ, and an NA miata, and i can tell you from my experience that i believe you were a little spoiled. The miata (and mazda in general) is known for having one of the best feeling shifters of any car. I've also driven several other miatas and mazda 3's and it's pretty consistent. It actually took me a while to get used to other cars after my miata. At the end of the day, while the twins might feel a little different than what you are used to, they still have one of the better feeling clutch/shifter combos of most cars and it takes time to get used to it.

I can tell you that making adjustments to the clutch pedal did help quite a bit for me, both the pedal height adjustment along with the pedal spring delete (I'm actually planning on trying out the MTEC clutch spring).
Having said this, you will still need to get used to the different pedal feel. Keep in mind that because of how the clutch pedal is designed around the spring, it makes it harder not to treat it like an on/off switch. Don't do that. Remember that a clutch is progressive, and the 86's engagment is a little shorter. When you have a shorter engagement than another car you have to drag out that engagement a little more than you are used to. The moment that you feel more force from the pedal pushing back at you, that is where you want to actually slow down your pedal travel to get smoother shifts. The spring will try to work against that and takes a bit of leg work.

All this is meant as tips. Manual is easy to pick up, but hard to master. It took me a solid year of driving the same manual car before i could say i was really comfortable with driving it, and you will still get a little better even after that if you keep learning always at the forefront of your mind. The moment you think you are comfortable with shifting and stop learning, is the day you stop getting better.
