Yeah, I've talked about it with the VA and they said the process, like any other doctor, is physical therapy for a few months, then injections for awhile, then if those two don't help, they start looking into the replacement. So maybe a year long process at this point? I couldn't do that to my wife, me taking the van and leaving her with the FRS to try and ferry the kids around.
I don't sit all day at all. I actually do quite a bit of walking. The campus at my school is ridiculously spread out. Also work out a few times a week. Funny thing is I can do that row machine for 20-30mins for cardio and it doesn't bother my knee at all. Just stairs and the motion you use for pushing the clutch. Also the same for my riding mower, pushing the clutch to get it started is a no-go. Have to use my other leg.

Isn't rowing the same motion? Or do you keep your legs stationary?
