After finishing reading through your post, the first red flag is subaru of Glendale. My girlfriend and I were shopping there for a crosstrek and they do some shady business.

Second sounds like the ecu got corrupted. The service manager saying it was flashed with a Cobb access port shows he doesn't know what he's talking about regarding brzs and assuming wrx/stis issues are the same.

You can try talking to one of the tuners on the forum like delicious tuning to see if it is possible to purchase a tune to reprogram the ecu and see if that will save the bricked ecu.

Best of luck, I haven't worked with SoA but Toyota replace my shortblock after my connecting rod snapped in half NA. The shop foreman was a pita about it but the corporation stood behind it.
