TVIS doesn't get ripped out to MAKE big power, it gets ripped out in LIEU of big power.

IE: you tune/upgrade the engine to the point that the powerband has changed so much, TVIS is no longer helping you, rather, hindering you by how it manipulates the air-inflow.

Thats the standard in 4A-GE engines at least. Taking off TVIS before doing any major tuning on a 4A is typically seen as being a mistake, as its there to actually help the car in low-revs.
