If the tune is maximized for a given octane, then there's no more safety net regardless of what octane it was tuned for.

If Sasha suggested running race gas on the track, I'd listen to him. Might be worth asking what octane he suggests, 100 is less of a difference than jumping up to 110 from 94.

You could also ask for a less aggressive tune that's safer for track use if you don't want to have to source race gas. Race gas is significantly more expensive than 94 pump.
