Yes, actually I have had a long mustache. It didn't grow from my teeth.
The bumper actually resembles a boxer's mouth guard, which I suspect was the intent (as a play on "boxer" engines) until a bunch of hillbillies who thought hair grew from teeth started calling it a mustache.
