Going Ecutek will probably result in another $800 to $1000 overall cost vs. canned tune. For your money, the tune will be calibrated to your particular car's hardware configuration, exhaust, restrictor size etc etc.

From a good tuner I'd say the custom tune will always yield the best results. It's a question of having availability of a good tuner, dyno tuned locally as well as being willing to spend the difference. I am not sure a remote e-tune can consistently provide the best outcome, or if so, with extra work and trial and error on the car owner's part sending back and forth data logs.
