A suggestion - bring your car in freshly detailed, and insist on the tech doing a walkaround with you, similar to that done when picking up or returning a rental vehicle.
The purpose is to make it clear that your vehicle is free from damage (or if it isn't pristine, flaws can be duly noted). Don't be shy about this - the onus is on them to return the vehicle in as perfect a condition as they received it. You can even say the that the reason for the extra caution is because of past problems.
This will do two things - if there are any scratches post tint, you'll have proof that they happened during the tinting. Secondly, it will enforce that you are picky about your ride (if you are, that is), and it will likely get a higher level of care and respect.
I didn't follow my own advice, and got the car back with three fine scratches in the clearcoat that were not there before it was tinted. And, I have no excuses - I'm as picky as hell and have had fifteen vehicles tinted. I simply assumed that people in the car mod biz would be as picky as me. My lesson is, they aren't necessarily.
Good luck!!
