Dude what would happen if you shifted to 2nd on the highway? Your RPM's would skyrocket. Same thing is true of the opposite. If you're moving slow and in a higher gear, the RPM's drop drastically low. The engine requires a certain amount of RPM's to produce enough power to move you. If you are in too high of a gear, any car in the world will bog (manual transmission, of course). If this is happening in first gear and you can't go any lower then you're letting the clutch out too early or not giving enough gas. Geez, I thought this was common sense for anyone who drives a stick shift.
