I'm not able to absolutely say, as I didn't get to test the noico, although I have some. My hunch is that sds performs better, but I can't guarantee that.
As for running active, it's a huge sacrifice to run passive vs active in a car. Check out the following thread, but pay close attention to post #36. I know the guy mentioned in that post personally and have judged his car. With just processing, he made stock bose speakers and a stick bose amp score almost as well as the extreme class cars in sound quality competition.
