Handling is a hard sell because there are no easy numerical stats to show for like in a straight line drag race.
It's easier to understand the benefits of quantity vs quality which is empirical.
I don't think it's necessarily just to go faster, but just to gain more of something to win. It's what makes us the dominant species.
