Most of us really old farts learned how to "drift" ..... when drifting wasn't cool.
Take an old 1940s Chevrolet or Ford, with half bald retreads, single piston (MC) drum brakes, warn out hydrolytic shocks, 85 HP engine, down a curvy, washboarded, gravel road, with a ridge of loose gravel in the center, at night with headlights with 6 volt light bulbs ........ that is how and where we learned to ...."drift" ......
Did I mention it was snowing and it was up hill both ways ...... ?? ......
Auto-crossing ....... ahhh, yes ...... same gravel roads, except instead of orange cones, we were dodging, raccoons, possums, skunks and washed out places in the gravel roads where the streams crossed.
