I know the optimal engine oil temp range is slightly above 200. Is there any reason why I've been fluctuating around 175-185? I know the thermostatic plate kicks in at 185. Also I live in Texas so it's far from cold here. Last night it was 75 degrees out and asides from when I attempted a 3rd gear pull I never got over 180 degrees... Should I be concerned?
My understanding is that thermostatic plates will always let a little bit of oil through, even under temp. It's not just a trickle, either. I have a 180* thermostat connected to a setrab 619 and my oil doesn't go above 170 on the highway.
