I think by holding down the traction control for 5 seconds, it will no longer cut power to the engine when you start to lose some traction, im not sure but i believe vsc sport allows for the same thing but still keeps stability on? I noticed yesterday when I almost got rear ended in traffic. It was raining and had to cut across a few lanes fast and as soon as my tires started to slide it cut all power until traction completely returned. In most events I would be happy traction control kicked in for daily driving, but when people are coming up on your rear end at 60+ last thing I wanted was to have no power. Maybe it was just me but after i realized that when i left the store I put it into sport mode and it let the rear slide. I drive an automatic though, so I don't know if you even have a sport vsc mode. But as far as i know with traction control off you can spin as much as you want granted your tires don't grab.
