Yes, that would let more gas into the intake manifold, but, without changing the cam, all that it did was ....... burn more gas ....... car didn't go any faster ......

 I've re jet a carb on a friends car and bear in mind how young we are I dropped the float needle and lost it somewhere underneath the car, it wasn't a good day after that.
