Don't be afraid just cause you've had bad incidents in the past.

No problem should arise if you replace a bulb whilst the headlamp switch is in the off position. New bulb should be handled with paper towel or kleenex, so as not to get oil from skin onto new bulb...which could shorten life of a new bulb.

The low beam bulb, as shows in the book, is the one closest to fender of car. Depress lock release (of electrical connector) and pull connector from bulb socket. turn the base of the bulb socket counter clockwise to release it from entire headlamp assembly. Bulb should just pull out of socket.

Edit: I'm not familiar with this type of bulb...I see now bulb comes in new plastic socket...really easy then to replace. Bulb choices (for strength and color of light), but basic bulb should be around $10.

Book pic I sent, if you can read it, shows how to replace bulbs. Bulbs can be had at any auto parts store, possibly also big box store like Walmart.
