Moral of the story:
The '12 WRX was a great all around vehicle, but in terms of driver involvement, it was absolute shit. Steering had no weight or feedback, transmission was crap, and the whole chassis felt flimsy an neutered.
The FR-S was FANTASTIC! In stock form, I feel like it's just way too bland and boring. I honestly couldn't stand the car when it was stock. A few small changes made it a million times better though and was definitely the most fun car I've ever owned.
My current STI is definitely the all around best car I've owned. Why? Because im 10k miles into it and still don't feel the need to modify it a bunch. It's still pretty much stock to; just brake pads, fluid, and some bushings etc. It does everything I need it to do, and does it well. It has its shortcomings, sure.. But as an all around vehicle, I couldn't ask for much else.
If it were me, I'd go to the BRZ as the previous gen WRX is garbage, unless there's a specific reason as to why I needed/wanted the WRX, like AWD, or 4 doors.
EDIT: Just saw you made the switch. Congrats!
