It was nothing like your situation, but I tried to cross a "low water" crossing near Austin a few months ago with only about an inch of fast-flowing creek water over the road. I distinctly felt the car begin to drift with the stream. Got through fine, but it scared the crap out of me. These cars are just too low to handle any amount of ponded or flowing water.
