Nakajima Aircraft Co., later restrucrured as Fuji Heavy Industries contributed their share to the Zero fleet as well.
Mitsubishi, which literally translates to "three water chestnuts", was established in the mid to late 1800's during the Meiji restoration period. Japan as a nation decided to Europeanize themselves industrially with the intruduction of large scale steel mills, ship building, railroads etc. This is the precurser to today's industrial giant Japan. Mitsubishi was the entity formed as the primary means to starting Japans great industrial era. Today they operate many interconnected branches worldwide and in Japan they are unique in that their car and truck business is vertically integrated to a great extent. For example they operate the steel mills that supply their vehicle factories.
They will take a hit on the equities market but it will all be absorbed and eventually rebound.
I do find it curious that many Mitsu cars I have seen (especially JDM imports)appear to rust easier than other brands especially on their undersides. Perhaps it's their steel?? LOL
