OMG I stopped reading at "I dislike surround sound. We only have two ears anyway."

If you don't spring for a 7.2 or Atmos setup with that massive projector you're doing yourself a major disservice. I can't count how many times people have told me "oh i'm fine with stereo" and then when they hear a proper surround setup they're like "my god how did i go so long with only stereo for movies?"

This is the screen paint that I'm familiar with, check out their range: http://www.gooscreen.com/

Sup fellow Trinitron bro? I used to have a 22" Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 2020u flat glass CRT (Trinitron tube) that I would haul to and from LAN parties. It weighed about 75lbs.

But if paint works, why not? I'm thinking a 144" screen in my home office that's actually a converted garage. 15'w x 8'h wall. About a 17' throw and viewing distance. The light control is really good. I have an old pair of McIntosh LS310 bookshelf speakers and a Carver a-500x amp to run them. I just need to add a receiver, a 2.1 pre-amp, and a powered sub to the mix. My current pre-amp is stereo only. I dislike surround sound. We only have two ears anyway.

My last major TV purchase is from 2008, and it's just a mid-range Samsung. I've bought a few cheap screens for computers since then, but nothing over $300. I'm not exactly frugal, but I don't spend much usually. I bought the good audio gear around 1996.

My favorite video memory is when I bought a 19" Sony Trinitron monitor. It could do 1600x1200! I played DVD movies through my Umax S900. Now that was baller, yo!
