I live in Saint John, used to live in Halifax, and am from Cape Breton.

There is a much greater variety of hiking in Rockwood Park (Saint John) than Irving Nature Park. Both are great - but you don't need to drive on gravel in Rockwood Park for parking. Thandi's is excellent food.

For Halifax, I second going to Darrell's for a burger. If you have time, try to make it to Peggy's Cove. It's only about 40 mins from Halifax. Great drive on great roads with an awesome view.

On the Cabot trail, try to check out Mary Ann Falls.

Are you planning on heading to Sydney?

Edit: Also, I've not had much trouble pushing the car to 650 km on a tank, but I've got an auto and some of the roads would be 80km/h - so sipping gas.
