My usual commute to work is 99.5% highway, and I can get 600km on a tank. That's not on Prius tires either.
Don't forget gas is more expensive in Quebec.

I do want to go back, but honestly the whole week long trip to get there isn't for me. There's for sure some stuff to see along the way, but in my opinion Nova Scotia is the place to be. Besides, I'd have free places to stay there :p

I don't know if you're going all out for this trip, but have you thought of camping instead? I'm not a camping type of guy really, but last summer when we moved my girlfriend back we stopped at a campground in NoFunswick. We were able to get a tent and the campground for less than the cost of a hotel. Might be something to consider.
