Once you get your car fixed, get thee to an Autocross course. You'll have the ability there to learn what your car will do under many circumstances at low speeds and a little bit higher speeds. Most autocrosses don't go over 45 or 50 mph unless you're at an event with huge qtys of pavement.

Not only will you learn things, you'll have a damn good time with like minded people and maybe (just maybe) get some of the messing around out of your system and off the public roads.
