My condolences to you neutral. I was recently in an accident myself (3 weeks ago) in a new car (mum's), didn't even have plates yet, only 2 weeks old . I was really tired and stressed but so was she so I decided to drive for her but I pushed my luck and got into a light collision during a sudden lane change that I didn't think about before doing.

The feeling is devastating. Coming out of that car right afterwards, you just can't believe it: did I really just do that? Did I really just crash a new car? Especially after all these years of driving? Did I really just set myself up for insurance hell? You get off the car to look at the damage, and even after seeing many damaged cars on the road, you can't believe the one now on yours, and can't believe that you yourself did it...
And then there's that huge feeling of shame; the feel that people you know probably aren't as confident about you being behind the wheel anymore.

But like my dad told me afterwards, all in all, it's just a car. It's material, it can be replaced, but you cannot. So in the end, learn from it and move on.
