I'm around the same age as you (25), and I've only had one speeding ticket my whole life, but I totalled my dad's car when I was 16. It takes a lot to admit to something like this. I give you major kudos for admitting you did something wrong AND trying to get others not to make the same mistakes.
It was a lapse of judgment that killed a 16-17 year old kid in the canyon driving up to my house too. Consider yourself lucky and make it a reason to make changes. =]
And to the douchebag forum members talking shit before even finding out if he was okay... All I have to say is that I hope you don't eat your own words. This specific situation could have been avoided, but I've seen plenty of cars wrapped around poles, etc. that have been hit by other cars / drivers. I was almost sideswiped in my GTR a few days ago by an idiot in a van texting. Decided last minute she didn't want to exit so just took my lane on the 405. Thank God it was night and I saw her phone's screen lighting up her face in my peripherals.
It's a damn person, who gives a shit about insurance rates / spare parts / "what people will think"... to the everyday driver... the FRS is just a "tC" or a new tiburon... nothing special... especially in the scope of a serious accident.
