It's not really an elitist attitude, considering that we're driving a $25K car.

For me, it's disgust with posers who buy something they think is cool and then try to pretend it's something it isn't. There's nothing wrong with straight line power. That can be a lot of fun. There is something wrong with buying a straight line car and pretending its a sports car, or worse, trying to convince everyone else that it's a sports car.

There's also something wrong with acting like a douche in the car on public roads and smashing into other people who were minding their own business. Or rolling the car onto your own head. To be sure, there are some douchey people driving twins also, but not to the extent that you can set up on the side of the road and get video of three wrecks from drivers of the car acting like morons.
