I installed a TRD short shifter on my Supra back in the day (mkiv model but 5speed) and there was either slop or it became too tight when over tightening the nut. It also had a tendancy to get loose unless it was tightened down tight. Cant recall if loctite was used but maybe a nylong lock nut and some nylon washers or something could work.
