Where as adding in a large 3 inch exhaust system (which we have seen) the power will actually drop due. This is due to a slow exhaust flow, which does not draw the exhaust gases out of the engine quickly enough.
So determining a proper exhaust (diameter included) especially in the racing world is dependent on many many factors.

Don't say it that way! You're going to keep feeding the myth! Don't you mean "maintaining exhaust gas velocity is important for making power?"
There is a balance between velocity and capacity, at a certain point if you increase capacity too much, velocity reduces and power is lost. I know you this, but people get screwed up when the term "back pressure" is thrown around
