Thats like saying the Toyota 0W20 oil is specifically formulated for this engine, which of course it not but as long as you use an oil to the same spec as the Toyota/Subaru recommend it works well if not better.

Each to their own of course but there's nothing special about a bit of water, some glycol and a few acid modifers for a longer life...
I'm not saying you can't use another phosphate/non-amine coolant. I'm saying that for obvious reasons I trust their own coolant with their own blend of corrosion inhibitors (which is proprietary information) far more with their own engine.
