There's no right answer on the power issue because it just comes down to personal preference. Some people prefer more power because they like straight-line speed; others want a lower power car they can downshift and redline in daily driving because they enjoy that. Neither is wrong; it's about what you enjoy.
However it does annoy me when people say the car needs more power for daily driving. If that was true nobody could daily drive these cars. Obviously that's not the case. The car doesn't need anything else for daily driving. What people really mean is they wish the car had more power for X reason (want to beat Camaro/Mustang or don't want to downshift to pass or don't want to have to redline to beat minivan, etc.) Those are all fine reasons to want more power, but that's different from saying the car needs it. If you are physically capable of downshifting, then you should easily be able to make all the passes you need to in this car (or pretty much any modern car) in your daily commute.
