I was stirring the pot a little previously, but think about it like this...

I'll bet almost all of you have a pretty late model iPhone / similar smart phone.
Why?
99% of people don't need that processing power. They send messages (basic text), make calls (mobiles from the beginning can do this) and perhaps looks at a few Facebook posts.
It's total overkill. Yet we all upgrade to the next best thing every year or two.
