My forester has hill start assist. You don't notice it. On a steep hill sometimes it holds the brakes for an additional 1-2 seconds and everything is normal. If you drive normally you will hardly notice it. If you screw around with it, on a hill with your foot off the brake you'll stay still like your foot was on the brakes for 1-2 seconds.... it surprised me the first time it did it, I have never noticed it since.


It might help the handbrake hill start manual drivers though?
