My Joying came in from Amazon today, and I'm pretty blown away. As I said, it was only $300, plus $14 overnight shipping to Hawaii, of all places. To go along with it, I went on Amazon and picked up a bluetooth OBD module for $22, and a right angle OBD cable for $8. Fully worth it, it sees every data point the ECU is providing and at high data rates. Latency is under half a second, maybe even under a quarter of a second. It's hard to eyeball, I'll put it that way.

The Joying unit is snappy. I'd even say outright fast, even when I opened a lot of random bullshit to see if I could slow it down. Running Sygic, Google Maps, Spotify, and a browser at the same time didn't bother it at all. The low screen resolution isn't noticeable, and probably helps a lot with the lower specs of the unit. I really like that they send you a plug and play harness, too. It isn't 100% with a 2016 BRZ unfortunately. I'm going to need to bridge the amp wire since Subaru moved it.

I have two complaints. The factory head unit brackets don't sit flush because of dimples that are built into the brackets that don't have corresponding holes on the head unit. Non-issue, just force it into place and bend the brackets ever so slightly to line it up. The other is that my volume knob is gritty. I don't know why.
Thanks for the observations, I'm also very demanding of electronics and speed is one of the most import things to me.

Just one question, how's the boot up time? I haven't kept up with the Android head units, but something that always concerned me was the rather lengthy start up times.
